When a person is accused of criminal wrongdoing, that process can be very intimidating with a big police force, with lots of resources, and an office full of prosecutors. And it's very important that the client understands that their lawyer's going to stand up for them immediately and level the playing field.

For a large percentage of my clients, when they come and see me, it's the first time they've ever been arrested or accused of a crime. And that finger pointing by the government or the police can be a devastating blow to a person's psyche. I make a point of getting to know them, learning everything about their life, their family, their job because I'm going to make sure that the other side understands that my client is just not another file but a human being with a reputation and dignity. And they should be treated that way. Every client's case is the most important case for that person. And so it better be for me, too.
